Since its launch in early 2023, CGC Home Video™ has continued to expand and offer more world-class certification services for home video collectors. And recently, CGC Home Video added box only certification as an option for submitters!
Now, submitters can take advantage of a brand-new service to certify and grade the outer packaging of their favorite home video collectibles, even if they don't include the original physical media. The box only certification authenticates a movie studio's original outer packaging and artwork while also receiving an impartial grade from our experts utilizing the CGC Home Video 10-point grading scale. Submissions that include only a home video's outer packaging are encapsulated in CGC's industry-leading holder and receive a special "BOX ONLY" designation.
In addition to the box only certification service, CGC Home Video has added other new services, which give members even more options when submitting their home video collections. Submitters can now take advantage of CGC Home Video's CrossOver service when submitting home video collectibles certified by another grading service. Submitters can also now send in rental copies of their favorite movies from video rental establishments such as Blockbuster, Hollywood Video and more. CGC Home Video’s affiliate CGC Video Games also recently began certifying box only submissions, and collectors have quickly taken advantage of the service. With box only grading, each component of a collectible can be protected until it is ready to be resubmitted for a full complete grade, and high-grade boxes are proving desirable: a The Legend of Zelda box graded CGC 9.4 sold for $7,200 in a November 2023 Heritage Auctions sale.
It’s easy to submit your own home video collection to CGC Home Video. Simply become a CGC Home Video member (memberships start at just $25 per year), complete the user-friendly CGC Home Video online submission form and send in your VHS and Betamax videocassettes.
